Pilot phase of the operationalization of the SDGs in Senegal to take place in the Diourbel region

This Tuesday, January 30, the second working session between Millennium Promise NGO and Alioune Diop University of Bambey took place; as part of the partnership that they have launched for the implementation of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at regional level.
For the purposes of this meeting, Dr. Amadou Ibra Niang, CEO of Millennium Promise and Dr. Ibrahima Kampo, SDSN Sahel Network Manager, traveled to Alioune Diop University of Bambey to meet with Dr. Moussa Dieng, Vice-Rector of Alioune Diop University; M. Aladji Madior Diop; Head of the Sustainable Development Department; Dr. Ousseynou Ka, Director of the UFR Health and Sustainable Development; Dr. Aba Diop researcher in Biostatistics; Dr. Ibrahima Faye, researcher in Biomathematics and Dr. Mountaga Dia, research professor in health and sustainable development.
MP’s CEO and Dr Dieng representing Professor Lamine Guèye, Rector of the UADB, proceeded to sign the Memorandum of Understanding sealing the alliance between MP and Alioune Diop University of Bambey, in addition to "agreeing together on the approach to be used to create the tools to develop an SDG-based territorial information system, which will be scaled up at the national level, starting with Diourbel as a pilot region ", as underlined by Dr Amadou Niang.
Along this process, Alioune Diop University of Bambey and MP will broaden the partnership to key national development actors working to implement the SDGs at national and territorial level.
During this working session, the two entities also mentioned several topics including: the terms of reference of the partnership as well as the data collection for the baseline study of the region of Diourbel.
The two parties have also drafted an action plan to present the baseline study of the region of Diourbel to the Bambey forum on Sustainable Development scheduled for the month of June on the in Diourbel.
